For godness sake, if someone wants to help someone thats relatively new at this for $30 let them. It dont mean that either of them are lesser beings than the $200 / hour guys that have a tendency to put their noses in the air.

Sure this is the Biz list, but we're also a community ffs.

In most cases it turns out there is no adequate backup of the system they want me to work on. If your stuff is not valuable enough to care about security and backup, contact one of the $30 opportunists.

Agreed.

Perhaps folks would do well by the axiom "you get what you pay for".

Then there are those of us who have made out quite well cleaning up after those

Thanks Jonathan. A Gentleman and a Scholar.

However, somehow I don't think I'll be landing this particular job. I find the many requests for professional help on this list rarely end up in paid work for someone like me. Folks really are looking for the $10 fix.

Since I am assuming Mark Phillips is a consultant, I'll withdraw my
willingness to do it for $30 out of respect. I know what a consultant
who is in this business would have to charge to remain in this business.

Are you guys in business as consultants or are you just opportunists hoping to pick up a few quick bucks?
