Paul,
In every province in big sities we have or ADSL, or cable providers. It
costs between 35 and 50 canadian dollars for the broadband service. The
speed is around 5 Mbit/sec download and 800 Kbit/sec upload. It takes
about 5 business days to install the service, doesn't matter if it ADSL
or cable. With cable modem even easier. Here in Toronto, you can go in
Rogers Video store, buy the cable modem, come to home, connect to cable
plug, call to Rogers to activate, and you are ready to go. Within one hour.
But you have to have the official address ( rented or whatever ).
All the Best!
Sergey.

It looks like I may be a lot of time in Halifax NS for a few months.
It is only about 7 hours drive. In order to spend more days per week
there during those months I would need something better than dialup. I
would be working on projects already contracted by my US business so I
don't think canada labor/immigration would have any problem with that.
If they do, I will get whatever they require. It is more like a
working vacation sort of thing.
Anybody on this list in that area or does anybody know what resources
are available? There is the possibility that I can just order
broadband for the people I will be staying with while there.
