I was referring more for the servers, which should be in datacenters where the bandwidth would them be much cheaper than available in the rest of the country, irrespective of where you are. I also don't only do business in the USA, but also Europe and Asia\India. I am aware that other areas are more expensive than the areas I mentioned, however. I'd say be glad you're in South Africa and not Zaire or some other country without a whole bunch of landing stations.
HI Mike, Sorry - hot button. We pay about $12.50 per gigabyte for bandwidth in our colocation racks, $12,500 for a terabyte. How does that compare to the US? This is a very good price for "tier one" bandwidth in SA (strictly speaking, it comes from a tier-two provider who is multi-100baseT connected to VerizonBusiness). For the record, there are many countries in Africa where bandwidth is quite a bit cheaper. We still suffer under an in-practice monopoly. My point, really - is just: Digium and other vendors: please please remember that in many countries bandwidth is scarce and expensive.
