Actually the CODEC name is ITU-T G.722.2 which is identical to the GSM-AMR Wideband CODEC. The HD part of the CODEC is its sampling rate at 16 kHz, where the "normal" CODECs samples at 8 kHz.

Better audio quality. I believe it samples at 128 kbit/s (I haven't looked at it in a while to know details) and compresses into 64 kbit/s, resulting in a higher audio quality while not suffering a bandwidth hit. --Mike From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brian Fertig Sent: Monday, April 02, 2007 12:39 PM To: 'Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion' Subject: RE: [asterisk-biz] G.722 VoIP Providers To: 'Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion' Subject: RE: [asterisk-biz] G.722 VoIP Providers Pardon my ignorance, but what is the big deal about g722? I see that it requires a G.722 codec to work. Most ITSP's that I have been working with do not offer this. Are there any ITSP's that use this technology? I haven't purchased the phone yet, but I am interested in demoing it for myself and some of my customers. Thanks, -- W.
