1) Either Microsoft, Cisco, or Intel buy Digium. 2) Either way, they shut down access to the source code 3) Many developers are left without a platform to sell. Some will become "Might have beens". Others will become blog writers. And yet, others will cash in on their contacts made on the Asterisk days.
