David, Nice to hear from you. The Sip/Simple interface for Asterisk you are working on is a great idea. Counterpath has a working solution that includes an SMPP gateway. Perhaps I should talk to you about it. Should I wait till after the release in September or could I get a preview ? B.T.W. I have been approved by the consortium for the AMR codec, still in the process of working out the financial details. Regards, Abdul Hakeem

Importance: High Abdul - We're working on something like that for SMS at Burning Man this year, but probably won't make a public release until September, after the stress test. It uses Asterisk for address resolution and IP registration information and should be compatible with any SIP/SIMPLE interface. It does not yet include an SMPP gateway, but that should be easy to add if there's serious interest. -- David On Aug 8, 2009, at 9:40 AM, Abdul Hakeem wrote: > Hello, > I was wondering if anyone knows of a bi-directional open source SMS > API for > Asterisk based on SIP/SIMPLE. > What I am looking to do is to process SMS messages from Sip > clients, if the > SMS message is destined for off-net it should be routed via SMPP to > MO's or > Service Aggregators. > In essence it should support e.164 & be capable of looking up users > registered to Asterisk, and if the user is not, it should then > route the SMS > via SMPP. > All thoughts are welcomed. > Cheers, > Abdul Hakeem > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-biz-boun...@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-biz-boun...@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Alex > Balashov > Sent: 08 August 2009 14:04 > To: Commercial and Business-Oriented Asterisk Discussion > Subject: Re: [asterisk-biz] SMS gateway API. > > Matt Riddell wrote: >> On 8/08/09 1:04 PM, Alex Balashov wrote: >>> Hi everyone, >>> >>> Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I thought I would tap the >>> enormous collective wealth of knowledge here. >>> >>> I come from the fixed-line world, so I don't know terribly much >>> about SMS >>> or mobile anything. >>> >>> I have a situation where I need an endpoint to receive a fairly >>> large >>> amount of SMS messages in something close to real-time and then >>> be able > to >>> automatically do something with them as part of a backoffice >>> process, and >>> need to set up something rather quickly. >> >> Is this not the exact same message as the Voice Ops list one? >> > > It is. > > -- > Alex Balashov > Evariste Systems > Web : http://www.evaristesys.com/ > Tel : (+1) (678) 954-0670 > Direct : (+1) (678) 954-0671 > Mobile : (+1) (678) 237-1775 > > _______________________________________________ > --Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com-- > > AstriCon 2009 - October 13 - 15 Phoenix, Arizona > Register Now: http://www.astricon.net > > asterisk-biz mailing list > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-biz > > > _______________________________________________ > --Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com-- > > AstriCon 2009 - October 13 - 15 Phoenix, Arizona > Register Now: http://www.astricon.net > > asterisk-biz mailing list > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-biz David A.
