iphones and other "low quality" GSM radios require an external clock
connected to the USRP since the USRP has some clock drift.  Clock
syncing is important (almost critical) to proper GSM functionality.
Things that cannot adapt are in my opinion "low quality" since they are
done in a way that requires something external to tell them how to act.
