[Asterisk-bsd] Brand new FreeBSD-5.4 install

Seeing all the discussion in here about the bug has confused me about what the "preferred" way to start a fresh asterisk installation on freebsd was. 

It used to be just install from the ports, but now I'm not so sure.
I've got a new 5.4 box, with a TE405 card. 
What is the best way to get a basic asterisk install on here?
