Ah. A case of "never mind the quality, just feel the version number"...

Anyhow, now that we have the 1.2 and current code base ports, hopefully it won't be too hard to run bleeding edge Asterisk on FreeBSD anyway since minimum tweaks to the port will (or should) get you running with the most current version.
I haven't really followed this thread, but following Thomas, you would be better off running 1.2 release branch than going by old releases or packages.
