I've also been meaning to ask folks on here for some clarity as to where the work on 1.4 is happening, and if it can be beta-tested? Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't know where the repository is for all the

What does the 1.4 port do that installing from the tarballs doesn't?

We use ports infrastructure for tracking installations, portaudit, and
possibly some tripwire like stuff as well I think (not sure about that).

An excellent point. Thanks.

Good to know. In terms of installation and file system layout, 1.4 seems
generally more BSD friendly.

Yes. I'm running into a weird problem with 1.4.2, where IAX2 registrations aren't going out for some hosts. I've two * servers here, one is the "production" one (I quote that because this is for use at home...) and running 1.4.0, works well. The playground one is running 1.4.2, and out of four IAX2 registrations defined in iax.conf, only one is sending out packets. To make matters even more interesting, "iax2 show peers" shows all of the peers as reachable.

Based on this, I'm not upgrading the 1.4.0 box until I figured this one out.
