Subject lines are helpful, subject lines are your friend! The developer list is more for nitty gritty technical talk - You'll probably find you get more feedback on the users mailing list. And maybe a flame or two as well ;-) In answer to what you want to do, I believe it's all possible with Asterisk but wait for a bit more feedback from the list too.
