If you have somehow acquired your unit through Vonage or someone who acquired it from Vonage, it may not be possible to reset the unit at all. This seems to be what has happened here. If the unit was taken out of service a while ago and it happens to have an old version of the firmware prior to build 020514a, then there is an exploit available that will allow you to access the configuration where you can change the password and thereby reset the unit. Details are here: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/707/ata186-password-disclosure.shtml http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/271973 I haven't ever had to do the above, but I understand that it works. This is a good note to others: if you purchase an ATA-186 from ebay or another used source, make sure it can be reset and/or has the latest version of the SIP firmware. Ask the seller to do a reset or something, otherwise you may be throwing your money away! > Does anyone know what to do next? Hitting the star key (which is the > documented next thing) doesn't do a thing. . . Well, next, you'd enter the password followed by the star key... if you knew the password, that is!
