I think *8# is only in the Zap channel driver. There was talk on the list recently (past day or two) about moving these hard coded codes (like *70 for call waiting, *67 to block caller ID etc) out of the Zap channel driver and in to the dialplan so they could be used on SIP and provide some commonality.
