All right, installed Asterisk @ home and sat up DHCP as per described in the handbook.
Defined a subnet with the Asterisk box at 192.168.1.1 as you can see in the dhcpd.conf quoted below. Chmod'ed all files in the /tftpboot directory to 666, the directory itself to 777. However, still nothing but Protocol Application invalid. Below is also a quote from the /var/log/messages file: --- /var/log/messages --- Aug 27 14:44:57 asterisk1 dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:06:d7:e5:c3:03 (SEP0006D7E5C303) via eth0 Aug 27 14:44:58 asterisk1 dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.1.110 to 00:06:d7:e5:c3:03 (SEP0006D7E5C303) via eth0 Aug 27 14:44:58 asterisk1 dhcpd: Unable to add forward map from SEP0006D7E5C303.asterisk.local to 192.168.1.110: connection refused Aug 27 14:44:58 asterisk1 dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.1.110 (192.168.1.1) from 00:06:d7:e5:c3:03 (SEP0006D7E5C303) via eth0 Aug 27 14:44:58 asterisk1 dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.1.110 to 00:06:d7:e5:c3:03 (SEP0006D7E5C303) via eth0 --- END --- --- /etc/dhcpd.conf --- ddns-update-style interim; ignore client-updates; subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { option routers 192.168.1.1; option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0; option nis-domain "asterisk.local"; option domain-name "asterisk.local"; option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.1; option time-offset -18000; # Eastern Standard Time option ntp-servers 192.168.1.1; option tftp-server-name "asterisk.local"; range dynamic-bootp 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.110; default-lease-time 43200; max-lease-time 86400; } --- END --- The option-tftp-boot-server suggested previously fails with this version of dhcp as an invalid option. I'll admit I'm lost here, but haven't given up. Thanks for the help so far! Take a spare PC, install [EMAIL PROTECTED], setup the included DHCP server, install the appropriate files in the /tftpboot directory, and plug the PC and the phone into the same switch. Voila!
