This is really not a huge help.. hut I got that exact error message running on a pentium 1.8GIg, 128meg of ram, CentOS 3.0, self compiled CVS-HEAD of 2.0.
The crash message is less them useful. When it happens you can not do anything with asterisk and have to kill it.
