We've talked about doing several smaller events, but doing more than one full-fledged AstriCon per year in the US is cost and time prohibitive. The conference will have something like 50 speakers, 25 - 30 exhibitors, 15 staff members. It takes about 6 months of planning to arrange something like this. Olle and I have talked with the Digium guys about doing "road shows" for Asterisk. Not so much of a Conference, but a regional or even local event that's a combination of our one-day introductory class (yes, commercial -- bad Steven, bad!), a users meeting (code session, gab session, Q & A with Kevin or Mark or Olle or someone) and a chance for local Asterisk vendors to show off their products, services, etc. The question is, which better suits the Asterisk community and business ecosystem (and we have to try to cover both). The big conference is great because you get 500+ Asterisk people in one place at one time. The local events are great because people don't have to make hotel and airline arrangements, be out of the office for most of a week, etc. Thoughts? -S > > Just my .02. > ~kurth > -- Steven Sokol CEO/Manager Sokol & Associates, LLC Ask Me About AstriCon 2005! http://www.astricon.net/ _______________________________________________ --Bandwidth and Colocation sponsored by Easynews.com -- Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
