Unless you want to monitor a call, or use voicemail, or use meetme that is.
My suggestion is, give 10$ to digium, buy a license and avoid all problems

I thought that page states it very plainly. If all of your devices
are configured (and support) G.729a and you do not use voicemail, AND
all of your voice prompts are converted to g.729 so there is NO
transcoding.
For example, if I use teliax as my voip provider (which I do) and have
g729 as my preferred codec, then configure my polycom phone to use
g729 and convert all voice prompts to g729, in theory, I would not
need to have a license.
