It might be bit hard to follow for the RTFM-challenged, but the page with the clearly-too-obvious URL 'http://www.asterisk.org/download',which is reached from the www.asterisk.org homepage using the clearly-too-intuitive 'Downloads' link, tells you exactly what you have to do to obtain the latest source using SVN.
