ouch that is what I was hoping against. This is tricky without making a call during negitiation to see if there is anything available. I have looked at the code and there doesnt really seem to be a way to do this under the current model ... You can do some stuff for some channels, sip for example has a recirect, but that gets into the nitty gritty of a channel driver and codecs should be free from channel specifics (in my opinion anyway). I am trying to work on a cheaper g729 implementation that relieves this problem as well as a bunch of other issues that may be present.
