This seems to be a big limitation of Asterisk. You can't pass variables, either set with setvar in sip.conf, or channel or even global variables, when you trunk a call from one Asterisk system to another with IAX. Considering that DUNDi is used for peering and redundancy, and IAX is used in the transport of the call, passing any variables from Asterisk system 1 to Asterisk system 2 is of _critical_ importance.
