chmod u-w <mac>-directory.xml

The phone will quietly not be able to write to the contacts directory.

Subject: [asterisk-users] Prevent a Polycom contact list to be overwritten

I have a Polycom phone that was setup without provisioning through an FTP server. It has a number of contacts that where input via the phone. I would like to add this phone to a small network that was provisioned through an FTP server and keep the contacts already on the phone. How do I ensure that the contacts list file will not be overwritten when I do a provisioning?

Steve
