Check it out for yourself. Installation is quite simple. Just make sure
you backup your existing Asterisk configuration files first.

DeStar is licensed under the terms of the GPL (v2). While Most of the
development noawadays is done by people from Avatar
(http://avatar.com.co ), and one can certainly sell a commercial work
based on it, I don't see it becoming proprietary in any way.

It'll take some time. Though you can always test code from the SVN
trunk if you want to cut youself with the bleeding edge.
