Answering my own question..... If you want to connect an spa3K with generic pstn inbound do the following...
for the pstn to voip dialplan in the pstn tab - (S0<:ip-address-of-*>) in sip.conf [sipurafxo] context=from-pstn etc. Then in * extensions.conf use the s extension..... [from-pstn] exten => s,1,answer() exten => s,2,dial..... etc. Makes it alot easier as you do not have to deal with extension matching when you know where it is coming from.
