If you were running in XT-PIC mode and the two were actually sharing
interrupts I can't imagine any situation where the audio loss would be
10-30 seconds, as that would indicate that the system was not servicing
the interrupts from the Zaptel card for 10-30 seconds.
If something was locking interrupts for that long I would expect other
issues like the keyboard and video not responding during that time.
Have you tried disabling the onboard ethernet? GigE drivers seem to
lock interrupts for massively long amounts of time to keep up with the
avalanche of data coming off the wire. This happens even when the
device is not sharing an IRQ.
