Off-list, to avoid a religious war, but why debian?
It's not certified by Digium, like centos or suse.

For the later, there are prebuild packages and regular updates, see:
http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/network:/telephony/


An rpm -ivh on the commandline, or a search on yast will install what
ever you need....
