What I've done here is probably a bit extreme, but we've never had a problem of any kind with our VOIP calls. it's a house, no more than 2 calls at a time on cable internet so it might just be that the connection is significantly faster than we ever use. I have a Linksys router that has the Asterisk box connected to a port marked High and the rest of the house is a second router connected to a port on the first router flagged as low or regular. I ran separate Cat5 for the phones and the computers. If I knew what I was doing I'd get a Linux box with 3 ports and have it do everything.
