We run asterisk on c2d 2.66GHz so looks like we should be fine with software encoder. Just to give you more details, below is the relevant row from the translation table (using digium g.729 software encoder). Any estimate on how many simultaneous calls we should be able to make using g.729 and ilbc code without taxing quality.
