Lots of unemployed engineers in the US would be more than happy with 70K, or
even less.
A long period of high unemployment in the US, and world markets is something
many have yet to come to understand.

Wait, is 70k US for an experienced engineer supposed to be adequate?

Wouldn't that be 70K USD? Or should we REALLY be worried about the British
economy?

What you (could) earn and what it means depends on where you live, how you
live and if you have a job. Nobody is "owed" a job or a specific salary. A
great salary in Alabama wouldn't pay rent and groceries in London and NYC.
Apologies for the poor "bottom post" and rant.
