Well you got farther than I got when I was having problems. :)
My fear was that it was expecting the calling user to use their own username in the validation instead of asterisk using the shared secret with a shared user-id.
Asterisk should use whatever credentials you define as HTTP Username/Password in the SPA-3000 configuration.
