I'm running Asterisk on Slackware 10.0 with linux kernel 2.6.7 and it runs just fine. Had a few problems with install and several /dev paths being put in the wrong place, but it runs fine. No performance boost though. Not sure if there's really any reason to run Asterisk on linux 2.6 over 2.4 right now.
