The channel does not exist prior to the Originate action. However, you may be able to pass variables in the originate command itself: Action: Originate Channel: sip/12345 Exten: 1234 Context: default Variable: _ALERT_INFO=Ring Answer|SomeOtherVar=SomeOtherValue This may work.
