Perhaps I should walk before I run :). Before I delve too deeply into GSM gateways some general VoIP questions (if this asterisk forum is not the place to ask, please ignore this message and inform me off list).
The current situation is this: I have a dry loop DSL line (dynamic IP unfortunately) coming into the house and a set of phone lines running throughout it terminating in standard RJ-11 jacks. I don't want to go and buy all sorts of IP phones for throughout the house, instead I'd like to route two or three individual phone numbers to different groups of phones in the house. The GSM gateway will come later. I have a server dedicated to be the Asteriks PBX, everything will be routed through it. If I'm reading things correctly I need a two+ port FSX -> one RJ45 port gateway and a bit of wiring at the internal phone line junction to mesh into the existing lines. FSX ports are the ones I want? At this point can the gateway generate the voltage needed to create a dial tone and ring the phones? Are most gateways addressable per port? Easily integrated with Asterik? This last is essential as I'm planning on chaining upwards of half the house to one, and the upper floors to another. Any other suggestions? And also a general question on service providers. Any suggested VoIP provider(s) offering local 911 access, per (milli)second billing, and dynamic IP routing? The dynamic IP is unfortunate but I have to stick with DSL (long story), you can't get a dry loop w/ business packages, and business packages are the only ones offering static IPs. *sigh* Oh, and local is Kitchener, Ontario if that makes any difference to 911 routing (I have no idea how that works). Thanks.
