Hi; I have few remote IAXy devices out there and have echo problems. There was a post already few months ago advising actions to resolve it, still, I wanted to throw few other options and ask members opinion which one might be the most effective. I have one constrain - 200 ms latency to the location where IAXy are used.
Options - use KB1 echo cancellation, requires Asterisk upgrade from 1.0.9 to 1.2. - do not use ulaw with IAXy, use ADPCM that the device should support. Would reducing 60kbs to 30kbs help with 200ms latency ? Would even further compression (let say GSM) improve echo problem ? I have plenty of cpu cycles on the server. - drop IAX devices, use SIP instead. Would a good quality SIP phone eliminate echo ? - I'm not using real zaptel devices. Would a real Digium card help when I use IP only, no PSTN at all? Thanks in advance; George
