I have two scenarios, but they are similar so I'll stick with Scenario #1 for now. This client is a small business looking to make scaling their business very cheap. a) They simply want to have a local (416/905). b) An 1-800 number (filtered - they want to have only long distance callers and US callers use the 1-800 line, other local users get a message indicating they should call the local number. c) They want to have telephone extensions for each employee, they want an employee directory, dial 1 for sales, dial 2 for support, dial 3 for directions to our office, etc... menu could be extensive. d) All employees (with a few exceptions) will be remote employees working from home. So, dialing a person's extension will transfer that call to that person's designated contact telephone number. They would ultimately like to have that home user have multiple phone numbers that they can be reached at (cell, home phone, home office, cottage, etc...) and the system dials them to try to reach them. We want to avoid employees handing out telephone numbers other than the standard office line/1-800. e) Voicemails/voicebox messages should be emailed to the designated user(s) OR the user can call in for messages. They would ultimately NOT want the user's remote telephone line to take messages, but maybe that's option that can be turned on/off. f) They also need to have a fax line. Very simple a fax is received and emailed to a list of users. So everyone get's a copy of the fax. They would each love to have a fax number, but the costs of such a solution would be prohibitive. g) Some (not all) remote employees will have high-speed DSL/Cable. Is there a cheap option to get them optional on this system (so outbound/inbound calling can be done strictly over the internet)? They have a number of users using Xplorenet's Satellite systems for internet access, has anyone had any luck routing telephone functions to users on Satellite? How would I go about doing this on Asterisk? What kind of hardware should I purchase to allow this, keeping in mind some room to grow. They don't want to spend a fortune? Are there solutions other than Asterisk that might be better suited? Regards, Chuck
