Actually, I bet it's not SJ Phones fault at all. DTMF in Asterisk is
unreliable in environments where you might get jitter and packet loss
-- and wireless certainly has the potential for that kind of
environment.

I was just on a conference call[1] with the Asterisk developers
yesterday discussing the issue of Variable-Length DTMF which will make
Asterisk much more interoperable with various end points and in
not-so-ideal network conditions. While Asterisk is technically RFC2833
compliant, the new DTMF methods will make it /more/ compliant
(whatever that means :)).

You can find more information about DTMF and Asterisk on the bug
tracker[2]. Kevin is currently really the only one with the skills and
motivation to work on the VLDTMF branch[3] right now, so progress is a
bit slow, but he has said once he gets the new module loader stuff
done, that is the next thing he will be working on. Hopefully we'll
see some usable code to test with in the coming weeks, and we'll see
DTMF fixed (more-so) in 1.4 (which is due out sometime this summer).

Also, feel free to join the DTMF task force![4] :)
