There is supposed to be an SMSC for Telus in BC. I got smsq and app_sms compiled and I could place a call out there, but ztmonitor()ing the call revealed that the softmodem in app_sms would not train up. I've been bugging Telus for an SMSC number or at least an email gateway that didn't mangle my SMS messages so badly. No luck so far. My goal is to light up MWI on my Telus and Bell Mobility phones from Asterisk, and be able to use the phone's "voicemail callback" to retrieve the messages. It's just an SMS message, just as ringtones and idle screens are. There are a number of SMS companies around the world who claim they can light up MWI on Telus' network but at $0.17/SMS it's just not worth it. I've found a couple of North American companies that claim they can do what I want, including one in Toronto, but I'm out of time to evaluate them at the moment, so they'll hvae to wait. :-) I know I can just send a regular SMS to say there is voicemail, but that's not what I'm after. -A.
