That brings back memories, I worked on a farm for a couple months one
summer in 1989/1990 and I recall that they still had a party line. (This
was somewhere in the georgian bay geographic area)

Out in my mother's home town there is a museum with one of these switch
board units on display. The tag on it says something to the effect of
"Donated by MTS after it was removed from service in 1986".
And I can assure you this was not the last one still being used by MTS.
Many parts of Manitoba still had (have?) "party lines" well into the
1980s. The original "distinctive ring" ;)
Amazing how much changed in the 1990s. No wonder Nortel did so well back
then.
