Thank you for your answers.
If I dial a 416 or 1-800 number from the fax machine, that should go through
the following route:
Fax machine - Handytone 286 - Asterisk (trixbox) - Sipura 3102 - Bell line -
Called fax.
for any toher number the route will be:
Fax machine - Handytone 286 - Asterisk (trixbox) - Atlasvoice - Called fax
In both cases while it is ringing I can hear the "beep" from my fax, and
once the other party picks up the line there is negociation started (from
the other party - however my fax does not respond - like it cannot hear the
tone. The other fax tries again and it breaks the line - giving me a busy
signal - at which my fax comes back with communication error.
If T.38 is not supported by asterisk that would explain the problem.
Is this planned to be supported any time soon?
One more question, the Sipura dows not have T.38 pass through, but has
something like NSE? Is that the same thing?
Thanks, Zoltan.

I seem to have a little problem setting up a faxmachine as an
extension.
The following is the setup:
Asterisk server, VOIP line and a Bell landline connected through a
Sipura 3102.
The fax machine is on an extension handled by a Handytone 286.
Sounds like your fax call is going through two VoIP links. Don't expect
reliable service from this. I have one customer where this is working
but the customer gets a small number of faxes, there is only one VoIP
link, and the customer is fairly forgiving. T.38 is the VoIP fax
protocol.
Whenever I am trying to send a fax - or as matter of fact to receive
one, the communication cannot be established for some reason.
Does it answer, screech but not actually negotiate? Or is the fax
machine just not getting the call?
