Hosted VoIP Network Engineer – Practice Leader Posted by: Bob Smith – Birch Street Executive Placement Posted date: 2007-February-26 Location: Toronto, Ontario Canada (Markham) Network Engineer Job Description: Birch Street Executive Placement is currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a large Hosted VoIP platform in Toronto Ontario. MUST have the following: - Direct, hands-on, experience on a VoIP platform of ANY vendor (Broadsoft, Sonus, Cisco, Tekelec, etc.) - Experience on Broadsoft's Platform is highly preferred. - Working knowledge of an entire VoIP system / network including: soft switch; media gateways; session directors ; session border controllers; IP network elements; TDM interconnect - Knowledge of protocols: SIP, H.323 etc. Desired criteria: - UNIX proficiency - CCNA or better certification - VoIP system design knowledge - 3+ years hands on experience Position Responsibilities: 1. Assist in planning and implementation of a Broadsoft Server or Similar VoIP Solution 2. Full operation and maintenance responsibilities of all the core network & signaling elements 3. Schedule and perform upgrades to meet or exceed established Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements. 4. Analyze and troubleshoot network & signaling communication failures and bottlenecks. 5. Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program in alignment with 99.999% availability. 6. Proactively manage and optimize network & signaling systems and interface with the vendors for support if required. 7. Assist in evaluating processing and capacity of core network & signaling equipment. 8. Perform sw and hw upgrades and be available on-call 24x7 for system outages or scheduled maintenance. 9. Assist in vendor criteria for solution development. Job Experience: Required - Minimum 3 - 5 years experience providing 24x7 support for VoIP network infrastructure. This is a Permanent Position.
