Bob,

In my experience, connecting Asterisk to a Nortel switch takes some pretty
specific knowledge.  That 'line side' connection took me several hours with
experienced Nortel techs to get it working.  Even then, I don't think we got
Calling Party Number and Calling Party Name flowing correctly in both
directions.

FreePBX will help you manage extensions and voicemail but if you're just
using it as a gateway then it's probably of little help.  Once you find
someone skilled enough to do the line side connection on Asterisk, it will
be a trivial thing for them to setup the dialplan component for you.

That's just my opinion.  If decide you want someone to help you, posting to
the taug-biz list will probably yield a number of good leads.
