One caveat with Fring: What you're installing on your device is not a SIP phone. It's a user agent to the Fring network. The actual SIP UA is on the Fring server and you have to give them your username and password so that their server can log into your server.
Also, you're looking at a bit of extra latency to go from your device, to their server, then to your server. Not sure if they have servers in North America or not, I think they're a UK company. Someone please correct me if this information is outdated. This is based on some testing and discussions I had about a year ago.
