Hello Reza,
Kamailio is extensively used as an SBC/ALG. It can act also as a
registrar and handle NAT subscribers.
Also, it does a great job in distributing calls across a cluster of
asterisk servers that are hidden by the SBC/ALG topology.
Being a great SIP router, it comes in very handy as an LCR server
(distributing calls across several carriers).
There are many applications where kamailio comes in very handy. It's
modular architecture make's it very flexible in terms of features and
relatively easy to deploy and debug (extensive SIP protocol knowledge is
required).
Let me know if you have questions about a specific features or topology
where kamailio is used.
Regards,
Ovidiu Sas
