Yeah, it's sad. In a post back in March Google promised few weeks to deploy some standard GMAIL features into Google Apps (including Google+) but so far has failed despite the huge community outcry. Like a user posted, "It's more Microsoft like...." but I guess there is something really important behind this that they don't want their paying users (*some) to get access to standard GMAIL features.
Don't forget, Google+ is still in the testing stage. Perhaps they'll get around to those things when it's settled down a bit.
