Can't comment on these specific products but I've used a whole bunch of
products from both manufacturers and I've always liked Sierra Wireless
hardware more (especially the speed of establishing connection with the
mobile network).

Have you considered Sierra Wireless 763 hotspot? I'm currently using one
with Rogers. You can use it both as a hotspot and as a "modem" by
connecting it with USB. I use it as a hotspot for SIP calls on a daily
basis without any problems.
