Hi guys,

I love those Alix boxes. A few months ago my friend put me on to the new
APU boards from PC Engines. They're the same footprint as the old ALIX and
they fit in _some_ of the old cases. They're beefed up all around with a
dual core AMD, 2GB or 4GB of RAM, Gig Eth interfaces, msata slot (faster
and no more concerns about wearing out CF cards with log writes), SD
instead of CF, etc.

More details here:

It's going to cost an extra $30 -$50 but it's significantly updated. One
downside (more relevant to firewalls than Asterisk) is that you lose the
onboard crypto accelerator from the old LX800. I haven't looked at
benchmarks but I'm guessing the new CPU partly or fully makes up for it.

Having said ALL of that, I haven't tried to run Asterisk on one. I've just
used them for firewalls so, as always, YMMV.

On a side note, I'm really happy to see some active threads lately It's
nice to hear from some old friends. I hope everyone is doing well.

All the best,
Dave
