I had the same issue when running Unlimitel a few years ago. (By the way, I am not representing Unlimitel here, just sharing my experience).
Didn’t matter who we used as our A-Z provider, we would get at least 2-5 complaints per day about bad connections when calling outside North-America. Because we were all about high quality VoIP connections, I had to find a solution for our customers. Since I was already using Big Bad Bell (lol) for our PSTN termination in Canada, I asked them how could I get international A-Z termination to have the exact same connection quality as a regular residential phone line quality calling the same areas. My Bell rep. responded back that I could use Bell’s retail A-Z termination. So I did. I got Bell to connect a dedicated PRI-T1 just for pure retail A-Z termination services. The price was way higher than anyone else, but I least I had a solution for our customers wanting to call abroad with the same quality as a Bell line. We called it our Premium International Routes. Once we directed our customers to use our Premium Routes for A-Z terminations, we barely had 1-2 complaints per month and that was from customers who didn’t want to pay the Premium rates. And we knew that if we couldn’t get a good connection using our Bell Premium routes, nobody else could get one anyway. Not sure if this would still be valid today since I’ve been away from the business for a while now, but I though I would share my experience with this matter. Cheers!
