Hello list

I am an old dog programmer, started in the mid 70's
and I'm here to learn some new tricks. I brought my
box to astricon in Glendale and some very helpful guys
in the code zone, helped me over a minor speed bump in
my asterisknow install. Very cool con btw, great
community of people, reminded me of the early days
when we were computer scientists.

I have a client that needs an IVR system built. I am
confident that I will be able to put together an
asterisk system. Along the way I will need some help.
I know from my astercon experience that the community
is helpful, but I will need other options. I know
that there is the DCAP certification, and I need to
know how to get in touch with these folks to buy some
support. Digium announced they will now be offering
support for asterisk, my guess is that they will
probably charge a lot.

I am also reading 'the future of telephony'.

I have asterisknow installed on a dual processor AMD w
2GB RAM and a 160GB HD. I purchased a used tower PC
from a gamer for 300bucks that meets most of the
hardware specifications in the above mentioned
'bible'. I am also new to linux. I'm using
linuxcommand.org. I have my studytime cut out for me.

After learning my away around the Asterisknow and
linux world, I want to upgrade to Asterisk 1.4.22, I
think???

OK anyhoo can someone tell me where I can in touch
with some DCAP folks, good basic linux tutorials and
places for a newbie to axe, the 'dumb' questions?

Thanks

Cliffors Sifton
