Hello all!
So, I'd like to implement an Asterisk server used for all of my phone calls.
I'm not yet planning to build an enterprise-style system here, there will only
be 2 or 3 people communicating through this server at most. However, as I'd
like to use some of the features present in Asterisk and FreePBX, such as call
recording, voicemail and conferencing, I think this would be a good solution
for me. So, first I tried getting it up and running on Debian, but I kept
getting errors when compiling and it didn't work out all that nice. So, as I
really would like to focus on the Asterisk system itself rather than the
installation, I was looking for a complete boundle and found Asterisk Now.
Sounds excellent to me, it really is what I've been looking for and I'd love to
use it. However, I'm dealing with a probably somewhat unusual issue here: as
I'm a blind computer user, I'm not able to go through the on-screen setup
without some kind of assistive technology. For example, if the installer
started an SSH server, it would be possible to connect to the host system from
another computer running a screen reader software (a software that outputs
what's on the screen through a speech synthesizer or a Braille display). Also,
if the installer included BrlTty, a console screen reader which also comes with
the Debian installer, for example I could start that from the boot prompt and
get the output from the installer sent to that. The problem is, I think the
installer neither allows remote installation using SSH nor includes BrlTty.
Right now, I have no idea how I could proceed with installing Asterisk Now in
an accessible way. The only thing I could do is start the live CD as that comes
pre-configured, but then writing it all to disk would be the problem, as i
doubt this could be done dd.
I would greatly appreciate someassistance with this - thanks a lot for any
advice!
Robin
