Prash,

If you want to install AsteriskNOW, you'll need either a separate machine or a
virtual machine on which to install. If you want to install Asterisk on an
existing Linux system, you will need to compile from source or use a binary
installation from the repository for your existing distro. You can find a very
good walk-through on installing from source on the Asterisk.org wiki:
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Installing+Asterisk.

There are some videos that walk you through the process (for slightly older
versions of Asterisk - basics still apply) in the Video section of Asterisk.org
(www.asterisk.org/video)

Cheers,

Hello Team,

I am looking at the quickstart guide for Asterisk:

http://www.asterisk.org/AsteriskNOW-1.5-QuickStart

and I’m concerned that installing Asterisk( 32 bit) might wipe out data on my
existing LINUX OS.

If so, can you point me to some docs on how to install without wiping out the
existing data on my linux machine.

Regards,

Prash
