Hi there,

I am planning to use a Soekris Net4801 board with Astlinux on a Compact
flash card. Either 128MB or 256MB.

I would like to use the same compact flash card for voicemail. I know that
I can use a USB stick or hard drive for this but I would prefer not to.

If I was to partition the compact flash card so that the primary logical
partition was read only and used for astlinux and the secondary logical
partion was writeable and used for voicemail etc., would the board continue
to boot and work normally (except for voicemail) on the primary partition if
the secondary partion failed after many hours of heavy write use?

The idea is that I want to keep it simple and just use a compact flash card
for everything while at the same time ensuring the system is highly
reliable. If the writeable partition fails and the read only partion keeps
working, I know the primary pbx functionality will continue to work without
any downtime. Most business can do without voicemail for awhile till I can
get around to replacing the CF card but not without basic pbx functionality.
